Energy derived from the sun is one of the most promising options. Solar energy is one of the alternate natural energy resources. In this proposed system, real time clock (RTC) based embedded solar tracking system is used to track the solar. The built system is, the design of dual axis and open loop tracking system. In this two axis tracking system, one axis is equipped with automation unit. Another one axis is adjusted manually by once in a month. Time based algorithm is successfully performed to various months in order to track the sun. In this tracking system, the azimuth angle is controlled by real time clock. Zenith angles were controlled manually by monthly once. An entire asymmetric solar dish concentrator is covered by 1 x 1 inch glass mirrors. The solar dish concentrator has reached maximum solar concentration with the help of this continuous RTC tracking method. The proposed system experiment was conducted in the month of March, April and May 2017. The maximum temperature of 415 oC was recorded at the time of experiment. This paper describes the design, implementation and performance of a real time clock (RTC) based dual axis solar tracking system and asymmetric solar dish concentrator. Numerous algorithm and functional program methodologies are implemented in order to optimizing the energy efficiency of the RTC based simple electromechanical dual axis solar energy tracking system. In this presented work, a RTC (Real Time Clock) based dual axis solar tracking system and solar dish concentrator is designed, implemented and tested based on current time and photodiode sensor based daily tracking method. In daily morning, the photo diode sensor in solar tracking system is used to align the solar concentrator for the initial position. The developed solar tracking system can follow the sun at various days, months and seasons. So, the solar tracking system needs a RTC (Real Time Clock) in order to leading the solar tracking system in finding sun’s position for the daily, monthly and seasonal movement. So, the combination of both RTC and sensor based tracking system gives the designed solar tracking system as an efficient one. Time based algorithm is successfully performed to various months in order to track the sun. An entire asymmetric solar dish concentrator is covered by 1 x 1 inch glass mirrors. The solar dish concentrator has reached maximum solar concentration with the help of this continuous RTC tracking method. The experiment was conducted in the month of March, April and May 2017. The maximum temperature of 415oC was recorded at the time of experiment. It is found that thermal power gain of RTC based dual axis solar tracking system is 75% compared to the fixed solar concentrator system

    Get PDF
Background: Injury to the sternoclavicular joint is rare with an incidence of 3% of all the injuries around the shoulder girdle. Most of them heal with conservative treatment. Rarely some progress to chronic instability associated with pain. Methods: We present a small series of 4 such cases of chronic symptomatic sternoclavicular joint instability. We performed reconstruction of the sternoclavicular ligament using semitendinosus autograft, with excellent result, with minimum of 15 months follow up.Results: All the patients returned to pre injury level of activity at the end of 6 months. There was significant improvement in the DASH score following surgery. Our results are comparable with that of Castropil et al, who had performed a similar technique. Conclusions: Reconstruction of sternoclavicular ligament using the semitendinosus autograft is a safe, reproducible and functionally good surgical option in patients with chronic sternoclavicular instability

A survey was undertaken to document species composition of thrips on grape foliage, inflorescence and different stages of berry development such as mustard size (2 mm), sorghum size (4 mm), pea size (8 mm) and beyond pea size (> 8 mm) berries at Bijapur in Karnataka and Sangli in Maharashtra during January 2005 to January 2006. Cultivars sampled were Thomson Seedless, Sonaka, Sharad Seedless, Tas-A-Ganesh, 2A and B5 clones of Thomson seedless. Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood constituted over 90% of total thrips sampled from new flushes, inflorescence and berries in different stages during January, February, March and December 2005 at Bijapur followed by Thrips palmi Karny (1- 4.3%); Thrips hawaiiensis (Morgan) a hitherto unknown thrips species on grape dominated inflorescence (98.0%) on cv. Sonaka during December 2005 in the same area. Similar trend was observed in the vineyards of Sangli. Number of thrips, which was more on inflorescence declined as the berry matured. Least number of thrips was observed on berries > pea size. As recorded in Bijapur, T. hawaiiensis was dominant species on inflorescence of 2A (98.6%) and B5 (99.4%) clones of Thompson seedless. In other cultivars S. dorsalis was dominant that formed 92.8 -100% of total thrips collected. Thrips palmi constituted 0.8-1.7% of thrips collected from different parts of grape vine. Other unidentified thrips constituted 0.9-7.2%

Background: Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has been a breakthrough in the field of medicine especially in the field of orthopaedics for enhancing bone and soft tissue healing. Plantar Fasciitis is a very common problem in the field of orthopaedics and are very difficult to treat and a challenge to orthopaedicians. The aim of our study was to find out the efficacy of autologous PRP in relieving pain in patients with plantar fasciitis. Methods: In this study, 25 patients with plantar fasciitis (age above 18 years) were selected. The pain intensity was assessed with visual analogue score initially and during follow up. All subjects were given single autologous intra-lesional PRP injection and the results were assessed using difference in VAS.Results: The mean pain score at presentation was 8.08. The mean pain scores at subsequent intervals of 1,2,4,6 months after injection were 4.32, 2.60, 1.88 & 2.00 respectively. (P<0.05 which is statistically significant). The maximum pain relief was seen at 4th month post PRP injection and the pain relief was sustained till the last follow up. Conclusions: From our study we have found that Intra-lesional autologous PRP is effective in relieving pain in patients with plantar fasciitis. PRP is biological and can be a safe adjuvant in the treatment of Plantar Fasciitis

Different IPM modules were evaluated for the management of yellow mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks) on sweet pepper grown under protected cultivation at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore. Results indicated that application of module 1(spray of abamectin followed by ethion and abamectin) or module 2 (spray of abamectin followed by profenophos and abamectin) was significantly more effective (3.91-6.58 mites/ leaf) than module 3 (spray of dicofol followed by pongamia oil and neem seed kernal extract (5.79 -6.95 mites/ leaf) in the first two trials (Sept. 2002- Mar. 2003 and June - Dec.2003). IPM modules like module 4 (spray of dicofol followed by release of Amblyseius tetranychivorus and spray of Verticillium lecanii and module 5 (spray of dicofol followed by release of A. tetranychivorus and spray of pongamia oil (9.25-15.53 mites/leaf) were marginally effective during the first two trials. However, in the third trial (Mar. - Sept., 2004) all the revised modules, viz., abamectin followed by dicofol (M1), dicofol-fenazaquin (M2), fenazaquin-pongamia oil (M3) and organic module oxymetrin-neem soap (M4) were effective (2.30-3.03 mites/leaf) against the yellow mite

Web Caching and Prefetching with Cyclic Model Analysis of Web Object Sequences

Web caching is the process in which web objects are temporarily stored to reduce bandwidth consumption, server load and latency. Web prefetching is the process of fetching web objects from the server before they are actually requested by the client. Integration of caching and prefetching can be very beneficial as the two techniques can support each other. By implementing this integrated scheme in a client-side proxy, the perceived latency can be reduced for not one but many users. In this paper, we propose a new integrated caching and prefetching policy called the WCP-CMA which makes use of a profit-driven caching policy that takes into account the periodicity and cyclic behaviour of the web access sequences for deriving prefetching rules. Our experimental results have shown a 10%-15% increase in the hit ratios of the cached objects and 5%-10% decrease in delay compared to the existing schem

Analytical and numerical investigation of the brightness of high power X- and gamma rays as a result of intense laser interacting with plasma mirrors in radiation pressure regime

    Get PDF
At laser intensity in the range ~ 1022 –1023 W/cm2, the radiation pressure starts to play a key role in the interaction of an intense electromagnetic wave with a dense plasma foil. In this radiation pressure dominant regime (RPD regime) we present our numerical results for the frequency and brightness of the reflected radiation from a uniformly moving plasma mirror. The interaction of the electromagnetic wave with an approaching plasma mirror results in the Doppler-shifted reflected radiation. The reflected photon frequency lies in the hard X-ray or gamma-ray range. For the source pulse energy s= 12 J, λs = λ = 0.8µ m, ne = 480 ncr = 5.4×1023cm-3´ (1µ m / λ)2, there are approximately 9.6×1042 hard X-ray photons/ (mm2-mrad2 -s.-0.1% bandwidth) in the energy range ~ 10 keV. In the case when for the same parameters of source laser pulse and driver pulse normalized vector potential ad=300 , λd = 0.8 mm the brightness is found to be 3.9×1034 photons / (mm2 - mrad2 - s. - 0.1% bandwidth) in the energy range ~100 keV. These radiations have broad range of applications in many areas of research e.g. medicine and material science
